![]() ![]() In Odyssey you had your 30 cult members, and it got tedious real quick. I liked the fact that you have to uncover them, but only because there is a limited number. Speaking of enemies, the (not so legendary but important) ones you need to hunt down to avenge your son do pose a threat, so thread lightly. There are legendary enemies, finally you can fight god(s), which are huge damage sponges and no, they do not get easier and no, the loot is also not that amazing most of the time, but it is a sight to see. Horse combat however, leaves a lot to be desired. The feeling of drifting across sand dunes in your war chariot is really something else. ![]() You can ride and buy camels, horses, and yes chariots. Then again, I did dress Bayek as a catboy in his Sekhmet armor. For some, this might be a horrible change, but I prefer not having to look like a fashion disaster for the gains. I also liked that you can have one outfit and just quietly update your armor in the background without it affecting your look. It's fine, you can still dismantle weapons to get resources, I'm just nitpicking. You see all these trees around and yet Bayek still has to go out of his way to plunder caravans for wood, among other things. I have to add however, that I preferred the way Odyssey did the resources, however. That means you don't have to recalculate your outfit every time you find a new sock. Hard leather, soft leather, iron, bronze, wood. The armor is way simpler than what Odyssey did, because you can purchase upgrades for melee and ranged damage, armor, pouches, etc. Yes, waving a big, fiery hammer around burning everything in your path does feel better than having a sword that can put people to sleep when hit. I have to say though, that Odyssey did it better in one specific area: weapon abilities. I liked the choice of weapons, they all have a sweet lil story post-it note attached to it, telling you a fun fact about themselves. Speaking of weapons, it's fun to see Ubisoft's take on the weaponry of Ancient Egypt. Treasure it, keep it close, don't let it drift away. You are an assassin after all, which, yes, means you finally have a hidden blade again. Stealth matters here and there is no better feeling than taking out an entire stronghold without being detected. The story is unique and tragic, and most importantly makes sense as an origin story for the creed.īecause there is no level scaling, you can finally feel like you're making progress, while at the same time still requiring you to use a strategy. I despised AC Odyssey and while this game isn't perfect either, it is a vast improvement (which is funny considering it was released first). I played this after AC Odyssey, expecting it to be a carbon copy in sepia tones and I gotta say it's not. you hate yourself and game is getting very tedious, but investor syndrome kicks in and you just grind through that crap. ingame rewards for those encounters are mostly nothing, maybe ability point (at that point you do not need it anymore) and few of those give you legendary items, but you stash will be full of legendaries by then. Yes, its doable, but you will not like it. Its like runing around as close to a hurricane as you can without getting sucked it. Because of "if character starts this animation it can not be canceled and you will be locked in and get hit" and idiotic boss combat design decisions: most of them start doing some insane BS before they die and you need to avoid that, because its insta death. Boy, that is some next level design meant to enfuriate you and frustrate you to no end. At some point even on Nightmare diffuculty it gets too easy and not challenging. Initial novelty of beautiful landscapes and being in Egypt in general, fades away very quickly. ![]() On par with its story and characters, and combat dullness, repetive sidequests and what is worst of all - this game laid a foundation to completionist nightmare that two later games are: insane ammount of BS stuff to do all around you. ![]() I am recommending this because it is cheap now. ![]()
